Rainy Friday…Sunny Saturday

Welcome to BBTI–Baptist Bible Translators Institute!

Since it was winter when we got to BBTI, almost everything was brown, but I found some color on this bush outside.

When we awoke on Friday, it was raining and cold. Where’s all this hot, sunny weather I’ve heard Texas has? Well, let’s take a quick stroll through the school since it’s raining outside, anyway!

Everyone at class had finals in the morning so we sat in for some of them.

There are lots of interesting pictures around the library. Also, there are pictures of each graduating class at BBTI. Comment below if you know any of these missionaries…or perhaps you are one?πŸ˜„ Editor’s note: Reese graciously pointed out that the whole world can access these pictures and even read the names connected with them, so we have removed the pictures. πŸ™‚

It was really fun getting to meet Reese’s classmates!😁

Once everyone was done with their finals, we went to Reese and Philip’s house for the morning.

First we made brine for the turkey. Then we broke out the Ticket to Ride and competition was in array. We first played the U.S. version. Not once, but twice. This game sure seemed to be a hit!πŸ˜πŸ‘

For lunch we went to a young married couple’s house.😊 We had a really nice time visiting there and playing with the littles.

In the afternoon it was more Ticket to Ride! This time we did the Europe version.

After supper we headed back over to the BBTI classroom for some ping pong and Pictionary.

What do you think Mom was drawing? Comment below for any guesses.πŸ˜‚πŸ€

We had a great time with that. Reese and Philip had papers that had idioms to draw…quite hilarious at times!πŸ˜‚

Next we started a game of ping pong to help burn off all the calories of our cookies n’ cream ice cream!

Service!

After a while it got so crazy that we had two balls going and Reese, Philip, Karen, and I just played with our hands and no paddles. The rules were basically keep the ball going!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰ We played until midnight. Then we rewarded ourselves with more ice cream and finally got to bed after 1 in the morning!

On Saturday it was sunny! Praise the Lord! We spent the morning at Reese and Philip’s house.

We first made carrot salad and made marinade for the chicken. Then guess what we played? Our favorite past time…Ticket to Ride Europe!πŸ™„β˜ΊοΈ

After an amazing lunch of grilled chicken (yes, it’s grilling weather there!) and mashed potatoes, it was time to ride horses!

The Schnells let us borrow boots for the occasion. They saddled up horses for us all and away we went.

We finally got all the horses lined up and standing still long enough for Nathanael to take the picture.πŸ˜…

Mom and Punkin😊

After some more Ticket to Ride in the afternoon, we headed over to the Schnells’ house for supper. Besides the turkey and carrot salad, Mrs. Schnell had worked hard to prepare quite a feast! We didn’t even have room for dessert when we were done, so the guys went to help a church unload pews, and we girls and Mom went to play music for a couple there. When we got back to the Schnells’ house for dessert, we played Settlers of Catan. Lots of competition involved!

After finishing our Ticket to Ride game at Reese’s house, we got to bed!😴

  1. Just to clarify, the brine was to soak a turkey in. The Parfitt girls made the carrot salad. Mrs. Schnell made everything for the turkey dinner except the brine and the carrot salad. But she did provide the recipe and the spices for the brine!
