Trip Back in Time

The Lord blessed us with sunny skies and pleasant weather on Sunday!😁

We attended Bible Baptist Church in Bowie.

Sunday school

Texas has some interesting road names.

The boys only had box-mix cookies which we mixed up after lunch. They actually weren’t too bad!

We headed to the school for more ping pong. We started before Mom (who took the car), but she still passed us.

More crazy ping pong

Observe the laughing Reese, gasping Naomi, and diving Philip and Kareni!

Score!

On Monday morning we finished packing up for a 4-day trip to Longview.

Philip took this picture for us before we left.

We said good-bye, and hit the road.

When we got to this stop sign, we were sure to stop to avoid a ticket…

After about 3 hours of driving we reached Longview. The significance of going to Longview was that Mom and Dad met in Longview and got married there. Dad went to Letourneau College while they lived in Longview.

Some scenes while driving…

We stayed at the house of some friends. (Mr. Morrill was Dad’s best man, and Dad was Mr. Morrill’s best man.)

On Tuesday we went to a Mexican restaurant that the Morrills really like.

How can you not like a restaurant that gives you free sopapillas and ice cream?!

Then we drove around Longview all afternoon seeing places Dad and Mom lived and worked.

Looking around the Letourneau museum

For dinner we went to a sweet couple’s house. Mr. Graff was one of Dad’s professors.

But first we had to stop at the store for a rotisserie chicken and BBQ sauce. Look at the Texas-size sauce shelf!

We finished our crazy game of City Monopoly.

We finally counted up our assets after 10 o’clock. Karen won as a multi-billionaire!🤭😧

Tune in later to hear more of our Longview excursion!

Until next time,

  2. How very precious that you all got to visit the place where Mom and Dad first met. What a wonderful trip for your family!
